Guys

The 318d is due for its first service - I was told by the dealership - oil and micro filters .
What oil and how many ltrs required?
Will oil filter be required?
Do you know of any other items which may be included in the service.

We do not have the 318d in South Africa....
Furthermore, oils may be different, as you have much lower temps in the UK, so the oil may possibly be regional specific.
With regards to the oil and microfilters, jus get the part numbers, and buy them from the dealership.

It's the first service, so keep it OEM, and these items are not any more expensive than non-OEM items.

The 318d has the same motor as the 320d , just toned down a bit on the bhp and slightly cheaper too.
Thanks, will just buy parts and pay labour cos of warranty

Wouldnt it be under a dealership motorplan? Doesnt the european bmw dealerships offer such?

Motor plans don't exist in the Uk but some dealerships run service plan offers from time to time , giving 3 year free servicing on non M models only.
So, your warranty covers all defects and service plan would cover servicing.

The waanty is a no quibble warranty so, something goes wrong,,, book the car into any dealership countrywide as a service booking and it gets sorted- the dealership claims the cost from the BMW warranty guys and the customer doesn't get involved.

I gues both have their positives

Surely it's just the one micro filter ?

Not sure how the dealers are in the UK, but if they are anything like ours in general - DIY. That said, resale comes into play too I guess and again not sure what value the FSH via dealer carries the UK. Might be in your best interest to get the dealer to do it.

Whilst under a BMW warranty, you must take it to an approved dealership- once the 3 yrs is up then you can go to an approved specialist .
with regards to resale - stamps in books are a very big thing
