I found this on / off button today. It sits behind a door just below the light switch. Anyone know what it is for?

Yes a friend said it activates the M5 mode šŸ¤“. I realise it is an aftermarket thing and one would probably have to trace the wires etc. as I did not see what it does yes. Here's some pics. The door below light switch opens and the switch is in there.

Which E90 is it?

Could be for almost anything, something performance related, sound related, light related.
Certainly is aftermarket, the E90 does not come with a button there.

Some new information. Yes I should have maybe done this in the first place. The car starts with the button activated. When activating while engine is running, it makes beeping sounds. I would not say similar to the PDC warning tones. I'm not sure if there are a list of different beeping tones where one can check what every tone means or do one have to check with OBD diagnostic?

Could also be for anti-hijack or Panic switch?

Mine has a similar button fitted (not in the same location) and is a panic switch for tracking company.

Could be tracking related yes. There are another tag thing on my keys. When I bought the car a month ago, they mentioned that the previous owners had a tracking system fitted. But my confusion comes when activating while engine is running. I get this beeping noise like PDC. The tag looks like this.
