Usually its a 24 hour turnaround with wheels but apparently all 4 of these beauties were buckled - Extensive surgery to get these wheels back into shape! :joy:

The Pimped Automobil | Because Stance right?

Never did I imagine that a mellow 523i Touring would be one of my favourite BMW's ever. I never imagined that out of all the absolute pornography we work with that I would be so absolutely smitten with the way this Touring looks.

When you drive it you dont even notice the reduction in speed and the way you turn the steering wheel just to get a glimpse of a reflection in a glass window - Driving in town with this car is an experience, its so much fun to watch the Touring reflect off the glass, the HID's and fogs, the glimmer of the BBS Wheels.

This leads me onto a fad, you have all heard about it. Stance.

I have done some reading and we cannot avoid that Stance in its essence is not something you can define. There is no secret formula to create stance. You can lower the car, you can fit wider tyres, you can black out your lights but these are not what Stance is about.

Stance is the feeling we get when we see a car, a combination of emotions, desire and fascination. This is why I love this Touring. Its not a vanilla 523i, its a sporty, aggressive family wagon, it goes against everything that defines the Sports Wagon and yet with only a few touches it does it so well.

Lets do a quick recap of the changes / modifications we made to the Touring:

Dechrome of Weather Strips and Door Beadings
BMW E39 M5 Bumper & Fogs Conversion
Original 17 Inch Wheels, refurbished with a polished lip and glass face
H&R Springs
Custom Shocks with SLS Delete
HID Kit in OEM Projectors

Other changes currently being made to the car:

Wood Trim being sprayed in Piano Black
Respray Boot (Some rust, thanks Europe!)
Respray Rear Shock Housings (Thanks again for the rust!)

Changes I want to discuss with Nick that I feel will finish the car off:

Mirrors in the same shade as the BBS Inner Face
Darken Exhaust Tip (Black)

Simple, small and affordable changes to take a plain Touring into something that is a real head turner, I think we have done well! :joy:

If I ever need a bigger bakkie than my e46 touring then I borrow one of the two e39 tourings in my family, they have huge loading bays with the seats down and are perfect for transporting wood and big stuff.

The new suspension is fantastic Sean! There is no way around the fact that she is a heavy, long and old gal designed to tour but the suspension makes the car so much fun.

The lowness can actually be compared to a Z4M, climbing in and out takes effort, so much so that I hurt myself the other day climbing out at a client. :roflol:

In terms of handling the difference is amazing, she loves long curves and is extremely planted at any speed. I find that if you turn in a bit sharp the front tends to sort of dig in a bit followed by the rear wanting to swing out, apparently because of the hardness of the new shocks at the rear, I wonder if some decent sway bars or engine strut braces might make the front a little sharper?

But seriously, its cant go any lower...

No seriously, we had the car in for Alignment today and we have had to order a Camber Kit for the car from Germany as its chomped through a rear set of new Falkens since the suspension was first changed (Maybe 5000km ago), the inners are almost showing canvas from all the camber!

There is nothing they can do about it as the OEM suspension being SLS was never designed to go so low, the camber is as far out as it can go and we have added some toe in to stabilise the surface wear on the tyres until the camber kit arrives - Unfortunately both rear tyres will need to be replaced within a month.

I do love it when a Touring gets more attention than an Aston Martin at Autoquip though. :bravo:
