Hi

Who would you use to work on your car Savspeed or Tune Tech.

I have spoken to both and am undecided. Tune tech reputation speaks for it self, but seem very commercial. Savspeed seemed to be more willing to and seemed to have a bit more of a personal touch.

Personally SAVSPEED sorted my 535d out did both turbo’s leaks at oil filler and labour for engine mounts and did some repairs on the charge pipe - cost me R32k Tunetech quoted me R50k and that was an estimate they said it could be more...

RGM wanted R70k....

Car was done about 6000kms ago no issues car goes like new - no oil leaks etc...

Also Sav is a genuine guy always available to chat - very different at Tune-tech where Saun is almost always unavailable and can get rude - he once let me have it and I honestly did nothing and said nothing and he picks and chooses what he feels like fixing on your list of issues...

He is good but I prefer Sav...

Dont take your car to Savspeed! Charged me for work/parts that were never fitted to my car , not once but TWICE.

What do you actually want done on your car?

Auto glen diagnosed a oil leak on rear main seal and turbo oil feed lines which they want 20k to fix. From what I can tell it’s not leaking significantly as I haven’t seen an oil level drop in 3000kms. But I would still like it assessed and sorted at some point. Also need to to do annual service at some point. Also suspect POV valve.

Sav will do a decent job with that kinda stuff, I believe Tune Tech hasn't been so great recently. Your other Options are Budler Motorsport or Ross Duncan in Midrand.

Dave Robinson Motors in Randburg

He does great work and I refer many cars that I do not work on to him.
He is reasonable priced and works neat.

Let me know if you want his number.

Been using Tune Tech for years. To be honest I haven't really needed to speak to Shaun. Always had my issues sorted and the team ensures that what needs to get done is done.

That said, interactions I have had with Shaun are informative and helpful.

IMO, the place with the highest knowledge base is best.
I guess tunetech it is then...

However, at Sav you get a much more personal customer satisfaction feeling.

I use Dave from time to time but he is always busy and with my last issue Dave had the car twice and did nothing with it...

I lost a little faith with him and he is always grumpy.... if your issues are minor Dave is cool and doesn’t charge much either

But if you have turbo related issues Sav is good with that as he is known as the turbo guy...

Tune-tech is expensive imho the same job Sav did would have cost me nearly double at Tune-Tech....

I don’t like estimates close to R50k and then get told it can be more but only after they did the work will you know the exact price...

Sav did a good job on my car for the price it was relatively cheap compared to Tune-Tech and RGM... Dave didn’t seem interested in doing the work - even Sav said that I should also speak to Dave - but I explained to him that Dave wasn’t fixing the issue....

Sav Gaulteri was working and turbocharging bmw when there were no turbo bmw. That alone must make you understand the experience he and his team has.

A mate did the valves and head of his e36
M3 and the car came back better than it ever was before. He was so used to the drop in performance which gradually got worse over time when he drove it after Sav it felt like a new car. Even I couldn’t believe how well it performed afterwards.

I have big respect for sav speed.
