Sash's X1 .20d MSport

So after some time of driving a few vehicles and making a conscious decision to change my touran for something from the BMW stable, my search began.

I was in so many different minds, considering space, engine power, looks, motorplan. Vs warranty, servicing, parts and after sales. It had to be diesel, not negotiable

I wanted some space, but my kids are past the prams and strollers, the vehicle need not be big as the E60 since the wife will be driving most often. I preferred the slightly raised body of the X Series over the F series and wanted something very close to mp expiring or just out of mp mainly because I doubt it will stay stock.

I found the F10 530d rather disappointing, but that's rather unfair comparing it to my modded e60. The F10 520d msport LCI almost had me signing but I wanted to remain within a budget. The twinpower .20d motor in the lcis seems to be way better low down. Most of the X3's I drove felt slightly under powered in .20d guise, but I have a feeling as that might be attributed to the engine being the pre face lift.

On the looks side, I drove some msports and some not...., but I always came back to the msport, at the sacrifice of some comfort. There's something about the msport that just make it stand out of the crowd, irrespective of what series it is. I am glad my wife has the same belief as me, which made the decision easier. After struggling with maintaining the space grey on the e60, I was hoping to get a simpler color to maintain, again the idea of a matching X3 msport in space grey was tempting but the lack of general cleanliness and what seemed like mine sand residue in every nook and cranny put me off.

Then there was the gear box...., I don't hate the 6 spd auto, but I don't love it either.., especially after driving the 8spd auto. It is much smoother, seems to give a much better consumption in urban driving.

So the requirement was simple...
Low miler, around end of mp, LCi, 8 spd auto, x1 or X3, msport, preferably white.
Or so I thought...

This is where the family on this forum came into their own. Whenever I saw something worth pursuing there was the assistance from our resident spietkop Francois regarding accidents and ownership, the assistance from jerry @ Leo haese centurion, and John @ leo haese Hatfield and my inside man Kyle (he knows why).

Special thanks to John who assisted with inspecting the vehicle on short notice too. The detailed service and repair history from both John and Jerry made the decision much easier.

And finally I introduce, Lilly, 2012 X1 2.0d Msport LCI in alpine white

Thanks chaps,

Its got some shopping dings and dents but nothing major, most importantly, one owner, lived in Centurion all its life, no respray at all ( except a bit of touch up on the lower part of the front bumper).

Tank average since i filled up the tank and using it to work and sorting insurance stuff..... 5.9L/100km, I am seriously chuffed.

Shot Tris, I forgot to mention that this guy was providing trade and retail values for those vehicles i wanted to look further into. In his busy day of meetings he made time to discuss values of the cars.

Thanks a million Tris.
