So eventually it has come to this. Due to the financial situation and a 8 month old diaper wearing angel our priorities has changed and I will have to make part with my 5'er.

Maybe in the future I will eventually owe my dream of a E60 M5. :praise:

For now I will pop in once in a while to drool all over all of your nice rides-pics:roflol:

Hi,

Is it due to the extra finances that you have to part with the BMW?

Hi GP yes, never knew how much a baby can cost, but wouldn't trade it for nothing, in fact actually a easy decision when you come to think of it. Thing is, I have a company car, Little Yaris sedan with free fuel so the Beemer is standing in the garage at home only to be driven maybe once every two weeks and we are planning on a sister or brother so the extra finances will come in handy.

And what if you lose your job tomorrow? No more company car with free fuel...

The 5er is the perfect family car with safety as no.1 concern, space as no.2 concern and comfort as no.3.

If your SO has a less adequate car, rather sell that and let her use the 5 every day.

If service costs are a concern for the 5, learn to DIY the service. Will save you plenty.

Then he can buy a cheaper running car with the leftover money from the 5er. I'm not even going to try understand your financial situation. But I wish you the best of luck. And I'm sure you'll make the best decision for your family.

I had a e46 320 before this one, traded it on the 5er but they had to load this one with the outstanding balance so now Im sitting with a large installment every month. Before the baby it was fine but it is biting hard for the last few months. Funny thing is, im owing on this one just a tadd more than i can get for it, or so i believe looking at the market, if i trade it now for a year older x5, x3, or 3series with less milige i can save almost 2 grand on my installment. Was opting for that as well and showed my interest on carfind and cars.coza with a few dealers. So now waiting for who ever want to or are able to help me first. Obviously the following car will have to be loaded again with whatever the dealer wants to make but will not be in the least as much as my current situation. I agree, its a gamble relying only on company transport and my wife doesnt own a car, work for the same company, but my situation is drastic and at this stage the beemer is more a luxery than a necessity.

Dude,
Family comes first.

Making sure that your kid has whatever he/she needs for good health and wellbeing as well as development is more important than a car.

the sacrifices you make now, will pay off later, and with things being the way they are, it doesn't make sense to be paying for a car you hardly use.

What if you get fired? What if SA has an earthquake? What if Zuma frets? We cant live our lives on what ifs. you have to make the most educated decision based on the information you have on hand and the finances you have available.

If that means the 5 has to go, then so be it. you cant put a price on the smile that your kid gives you, no car can ever make you happier than the feeling of a warm hug from your kid after a long shitty day.
anyone who says otherwise is an idiot, or doesn't have their own kids.

I applaud your decision to choose your responsibilities as a father over that of a fanatic, and hope to see you again in the not-so-distant future back behind a BMW.

what he said:rollsmile:

family comes first, end of the day its just a car,im in same boat, unemployed since December,in the next week or two my car will be up for sale,as I would rather put that money in the house instead of a car standing in the garage, and having a child in high school isn't cheap now days

good luck bud and enjoy the little one,a child is the best thing in the world:thumbs:

I know the feeling! Some of us earn just enough to get by!

I have had to put off buying another car for the past five years at least! I bought a home for my family and have two little girls at school.

And, now, it is just a matter of taking care of my two old BMWs, hoping they survive until I can afford another car.

I must say that keeping my old Beemers going hasn't cost me that much considering their age and they are still great to drive, feel safe and satisfying after a long trip. But they are paid for a long time ago!

I guess if you are still paying off your E60 then the extra cash will make a difference, especially considering that it might be difficult to get a good price for it later.

We got to take care of what comes first!

Dont want to advertise on the wrong thread, :fencelook: but here goes, its a 2006, 523i, 170k doing a lot of shopping, put it on gumtree for R165, took a chance, settlement is R157k. I see they go for 130k to 170k with less milige. :fencelook: also busy with the optionof trading it on a 2005, x3, or e90 330d or e46 3 series - hoping that a dealer can get me a lower installment. So at this stage a trade on a cheaper deal or someone that wil take it of my hands.
