S85 Throttle Actuators

Hi all, long time no post. Question, I've been cursed with the dreaded throttle actuator issue on my E63 M6, and am going to need to sort it out soon. I just wanted to know if there's anyone on the forum who supplies the gears that go inside the actuators? I am not looking to replace the entire unit, just replace the gears as a starting point. Only place I can find with a Google search is from overseas and with the current situation delivery of such things is an unknown factor, and I'd rather support local than international if possible.

If anyone does know of someone who supplies these it'll be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Morgan

Ya me too. Cos the car was running fantastically up until about a week ago. Initial investigation sent me down the path of a failing battery because the car is garaged often. But I went and had a straight pipe setup done a couple of weeks ago (car sounds insane) and a day or two before that was done it started throwing the error. Battery replacement didn't work. Just went out to the car how to hook up my trickle charger and the issue is gone. But this morning it was persistent when I was driving it. And every time I run a scan, I get 002B15.

From my limited knowledge of this topic, assuming the S65 and S85 have similar actuators, a permanent error code means that new actuators are required.. If it is a constant error code, I am not sure if you can upgrade the gears to successfully remove the error code.

Interested to know if I am incorrect, I hope I am.. I purchased my S65 with new actuators, so the brass gear upgrade would need to be done sometime in the future.

On a side note, would love to hear the straight pipe!

The actuators are the same for the S85 and the S65. Well from the research I've done. I'm counting on the fact that it's slightly intermittent so it's only the gears and not the circuitry that's the issue. I don't really have the money to replace the actuators (they're stupid expensive).

I'll put a video clip up when I get a chance. It's loud. VERY loud.

Mine were replaced at TuneTech last year by the previous owner, just shy of a R30k bill for 2 actuators and labour...  :fencelook:

I can imagine just how loud it must be, wicked F1 car loud..  :smilebounce:

I'm not quite prepared to dish out that much just yet. I'll follow whatever fix protocols I can before I get there. If that's the case then the car is going to get mothballed for a while until I can sort it out. So hopefully it doesn't come to that. I really love the car and it's an awesome drive.

Morgan if it has thrown errors hold on to your breaches as it will not be able to be repaired 95% of the time as the mosfets cook.

In addition 50% of the time the second actuator goes soon after.

Ask me how I know
Your options are repair the one with no errors by placing a gear set in it and buy a new actuator for the one that is throwing errors.
Either way it is an expensive exercise

Give me a shout if you wish more insight

Thanks Peter. I'm willing to try a couple of things first. I'll get stuck in and move the one actuator to the other side see if the issue follows, replace the gears on both and hope for the best. Failing that I'll start a Go Fund Me to help feed my children and wife.

I am willing to bet you a coke that it will follow.
Once a light is thrown it is tickets.

On second thoughts keep the money for the coke and add it to the go fund me total
