Hi. Does any one have an idea on how ascari got 625hp out of a normal aspirated s62 m5 motor in their ascari A10? Planning on buying a e39 m5 within this month. Would be epic to have that ascari power and looking dead stock under the bonnet.

Yes but what exacly did they do what cam profile what did they do to the vanos what pistons and conrods type of valve springs ect ect want to try and do the same. Want to see if us mere mortals can create the same type of life as the car gods. Cuz most power ive seen off a n/a s62 was in the reagon of 500hp. No where near 625.

Yeah from what I read, the modifications would cost more then the e39 M5, and the modified engine wouldnt fit in an e39.
But anything is possible with the right about of money.

I dont think ascari would make the fine details available... why should they...

it will cost you a boat load to do this... a supercharger will be way cheaper and the car will be have the same so there is no real point :)

if you really want to do this then you need to find an many specs as possible on the ascari engine then try reverse engineer it...

If your going to go this insane, why not start with a M62 base.

I know its not the S, and a large differance in displacement bla bla bla, but if your going to be tossing the internals anyway with custom everything, why not start with an M62, can be had for chump change...

having an extra engine to work on will be a good idea to minimize down time :)

LZ what are the differences in the block and head?

M62 only vanos on intake and no itb's smaler valves and more restrictive head. I think. Have got a friend with a 1998 or 99 S62 (not shure). Laying in pieces in his shead. Had a talk with my old man and he sais if i unpack all his tools and move his flow bench and fly dyno to my garage and dont bother him for a month or 3 he wil be abel to get verry close. Oh and fit the buget...

Yup but the amount of power it developed was something like 125HP more than Mclaren wanted so they couldn't really say no to it could they....
