Rust inhibitor

Hi guys

Someone told me there's a product that mw sells that removes rust and corrosion from aluminum radiators

Anyone know of a product like this or anything else I can use that's aluminum friendly ?

I've tried rad flushes that include spanjaard, wynnsand liqui moly but there's some serious rust in there

Any other suggestions will be appreciated

Regards

Muhammed

Speak to some radiator places maybe they have a solution as surely they have experience in fixing the issue

If its that bad then don't waste money trying to fix, rather replace with new one given the delicate nature of our cooling systems.

+1, also been looking into this, never found anything that won't eat the engine/radiator. Please advise if you come right. Good luck!

I am considering replacing the radiator and thermostat + housing as its not too expensive however my concern is messing a new radiator up so I'm trying to clean it before installing a new one

Thanks for the advise guys

Charlie B: I priced the radiator an after a discount comes out to 1800 + vat if u interested as well the guys are called Tombo Automotive in Robertsham

I actually do accident repairs using Tombo as the suppliers.

As long as its a behr then its oem.

If rust has formed, then your probably screwed already.

You can always remove the radiator, and flush out the block with a hose pipe to get all the crap out..

So what I've done so far is the following .... Will have to see what the results are like in a few days

Filled 2 bottles spanjaard radiator cleaner and drove for 3 days then flushed and refilled coolant. Drove for a week and the coolant went brown so I tried the same with wynns. Made slight progress then I tried a 1:6 mixture of pool acid with water(I'd
Ed car for 10 min and flushed well - even used a garden blower to get the last bit out). Last week I added two bottles of liqui moly radiator flush and just filled the sasol branded antifreeze 50:50 mix with water

I suppose I'll have to monitor it over the next couple of days and see

Serious amount of effort you have been through with all this filling, flushing, jacking up and down, covers on and off etc etc. Not to mention the costs too.

Problem you have is that the bottom hose neck is not at the bottom proper and to flush properly you need to take the Rad out. I bought from Silverton for R1150, but I believe G/Wagen is around R900 or less ! You have probably spent R500 on all these flushes and coolants & still have am old Rad - coiuld have just bought new and at least had piece of mind - just my opinion.

The Silverton Rad is not exactly the same BTW, but pretty close and don't buy any other Exp Tanks other the agents - I bought both the G/Wagen one and the Silverton one (they are exactly the same) and they both didn't work with the new hose - had to buy the agents Exp tank which is different to the other two and no hassle.

I have just spent a small fortune and rebuilt the entire 330's cooling system including radiator, t/stat, pump. pulley, pulley bolts all hoses - there are 8 in total, expansion tank. But it's done once, done right and I have piece of mind now.

There are two plastic hoses that I'd like to do at some stage, but that requires the intake to come off and the OFH too what a PITA.

Thanks for the advice and I totally agree with what u saying. I was afraid of installing a new radiator then filling it up with all that rust in the expansion tank / pipes / heater core etc. my objective is stil to replace the radiator, hoses and thermostat for now but only once I'm happy with the quality of water coming out whilst flushing. Again thanks I will def try GW for rad prices.
