Runflats vs Normal Tyres

Yep, it's like the car is in some sort of invisible track on the road and you find yourself continuously making corrections. I have gotten "slightly" use to it, but by no means do I like it - makes me feel less confident at times because the car feels unsettled...

I think this is because of the hard sidewall. Apparently you used to get something similar on the cross ply tyres...

Please Please Do not use The Yokohama ADVAN Sport Tyres, like I said in the past here it is probably the crappiest tyres I have ever had on my vehicles, they cause all sorts of problems that makes you think it is suspension or rim related problems, but you replace the frigin Advan Sports and all the problems disappear. Feel free to Google these tyres and you will find quite a few such stories on these tyres.

Okay, thanks for sharing your experiences with the ADVAN tyres - wasn't sure and the few results I found from searching google seemed to show mostly happy customers but they did mention excessive noise and so on. Any other suggestions? Goodyear F1 Assy, Kumho's, Hankooks? I read that the Hankooks tend to loose their grippiness as they wear - apparently there was some sort of international recall on the Goodyears that were made from 2006-07 or so. Are there any run-flats worth looking at that aren't so badly affected by the tramlining, probably not really? So far it's looking more like the Goodyears...

That's exactly the reason, as while as the tyre width of course - so maybe slightly narrower run-flats or higher profile might not be as bad. I gather that was what the old cross ply tyres did too, interestingly.

Fitting narrower tyres might work... Although that would make the car understeer more... :thinking:

Well not suggesting fitting narrower tyre/wheels, just saying that I would think that cars that have run-flats that aren't as wide may not be as prone to the tramlining, and even for that matter the ride might not be as hard due to the higher profile versus width, not sure though...
