RSI 43mm ITB's on M42B18

Hi Guys

I am new to the forum.

I drive an e36 318 (m42b18) with a motorsport kit on it and would like to know if anyone has attempted putting RSI ITB's in their cars. I have all the parts needed besides the ITB's and just needed some mature guidance.

I am aware that I can do an engine swop, I am also aware that I wont get a million KW's of power (for the most 15 - 20 kw with a 60-2 wasted spark management) and the fact that it might be pricey (actually not, its under R6k without labour).

If anyone is running or knows of anyone who has/is running this setup then please let me know.

Speak to Gizmo or search for his tread on an engine build from a few years ago.

There was a guy with bm squad in cape town running an m10 with 20v throttles in his e30. Sounded mean. Unfortunately I don't remember his name and I have no contact details for him. It work amazingly well tho

Oh how I would love to have a chat with that guy. Worst case scenario is just do the setup and work through the teething problems, if any.

I almost think it's this guy you're refering to. Can't be sure though.

I looked into ITBs on my M42 many years ago and ended up going for the S50 ITBs as the port shape/spacing is correct, uses bosch style injectors and of course uses the same style TPS as the M42. It would be way easier to fit S50 ITBs to the M42 over the toyota ones where everything is different and would need many many hours of custom fabrication time to make them work.

Sadly, I never got round to finishing the ITB project as I went a different direction with the car. The 328i swap has been the best bang-for-buck modification I have done on my 316i in the 14 years of ownership.

Just out of curiousity, I noticed that many people abandon their ITB projects. Why though? Yes going 6 pot would be cost effective in terms of the power you gain but many of us (or maybe just me) would like to waste some time on a 4 pot before upgrading. I dont intend on selling my baby so it would be nice to have a timeline and say that I have done various things to her.
