I really don't know this is possible the side shaft boot was torn but that's it no other scrapping marks

This is why I wanted to go through the whole car before putting it on the track

This part was begging to fail

That looks like the wheel came off at some point and that arm took a hard knock on the ground and dragged for a bit:hammerhead:

It's Saturday so there are updates today lol

Started off cool weather so I decided to do the headlight mod I wanted to test for CAI. Plan is to build a custom box with the ram tube straight from the headlight into the box

Pics. So here are my rather disgusting headlights these things were held on with cable ties

Basically the plan is to keep the round lenses only which mount onto the frame and the outer glass will be removed. With a hammer which I did lol

Next I did the gearbox mountings and guibo replacement
These gearbox mountings are from an e46 m3. Suppose to be an upgrade. Time will tell

So all my pics associated with external hosted companies like photobucket and tapatalk have been blocked, causing this thread to have broken links in it.

I hope it gets sorted out cause I have really put time into taking pics and what a waste that would be

Tell me about it - discovered that on my thread - And I have added many pics, amended many broken links and I am back at square one again.:smashScreen:

Would really suck if it doesn't get sorted out. I have sent messages to the forum. Via pm. Email and reporting an issue. Hope it gets sorted as It will be the death of this thread.

So basically looked into it. My thread on another site works with the same pics used here. If you go to the copy the image link and copy it to new tab it will give you a html error. But if you paste that link into notepad you will find that there are extra characters added to the pic link compared to what it is displaying to the browser this causing this issue.

Its been so long since I updated this thread I kinda got put off when all the pic links broke, anyway I kinda thought for the people that have been following this build. I should post the slow progress.

ok so here we go

Next was the bushes on the trailing arms

I went with a M3 setup and used ball joints for the top and bottom which I got from axis and I also replaced the wheel bearings and replaced the hub for the 1 side where the hub had broken bolts stuck in it while everything was disassembled

In the whatsapp group I have been nick named george bush lol

For some odd reason my side shaft nuts were 31mm trying to find a socket was rediculous but I eventually came right this is how I removed the nuts with the arms off the car. I also used another pipe to extend the leverage

a92fb05a-d6e8-4f90-8e29-5b69ad0a488b_8093557222.jpg

Next on the list was to remove the trailing arm bushes, the one was already half out as the bushing was damaged so removing it was a piece of cake I dint even damage it while removing it

here is the old bushing

as for the other one well that was interesting...
I burnt it, drilled it, smashedit with a hammer tried pressing it out with my bearing clam, made a custom jig it just refused to come out. Eventually the steel tube fell out and I used a hack saw and cut through it

This is what it looked like when it was eventually removed

These bushes are going to be replaced with powerflex black series

With power flex bushes the subframe washers supplied often fail as they are weak, a member on the forum here custom made me thicker washers from tool steel !!!

here is what they look like when they bend

To do this upgrade you would also need 2 e90 subframe bolts.

I am just waiting for my diff side shafts and custom poly bushes to be done and then I can start to reassemble my rough rider

I have also removed most of my sound deadning I did 90% of it with a hammer and chisel I just need dry ice to complete a small section in the boot and under the pedals

325i's are bulletproof, an enjoyable car to own. Had 4 of them already. Give your one some TLC and it will make you smile everyday.

Minor update

As posted previously I got rear adjustable arms, but since I am going all out I was not satisfied with the flex and the length of the bushing as there was some play when in the subframe.

So I investigated further and found a place that could do custom poly bushes and they are very cheap compared to what I paid for the powerflex ones

The Arms - look at the bushes
s-l1600_6118884803.jpg

They are mounted here on the subframe

Custom poly bushes installed my arms- the arms are disassembled as I didnt want anything going missing

This poly is definitely not the same quality as the powerflex but a 1/4 of the price. The air pockets are visible here
539d3f39-7b08-4855-84a2-8e1fc3c76c9f_4705689088.jpg

In my opinion still better than the stock rubber ones if you want to use it for track.

But I would not suggest getting these custom bushes for the rear control arm bushes as they are inferior to the aftermarket ones. Axis Limiters or Powerflex bushes reduce the play of the arm in the chassis mount.

The only thing holding me back now is the reconditioning of the rear side shafts till I can get this thing assembled
