So all in all a pretty successful road trip. M5 behaved very well, still so impressed with the ease of power :) No need to change gears, 100km/h from behind a truck to 180km/h past 4 cars :praise:

Some pics from the weekend.

Such an awesome car for road trips. Avg consumption was siting at 11.2l/ 100km with an average speed of 118km/h.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys!! No jumping off bridges this time, most of Plett was flooded and the last thing you thinking about while aqua-plaining from Mosselbaai to Plett is jumping off a bridge

Looks like a great trip. I love going on the open road with my car as well. I think that's where BMW's really come into their own :thumb: Of course the V8 roar makes it SSoooOoOo much better :):)

I am doing the same trip next week. Mosselbay, George, Oudsthoorn.

Gonna stretch the V8's legs a bit.

Glad you guys are back safe! Did you not get stuck in traffic on Sir Lowry's Pass? Or maybe used a different route back...

Didn't get stuck, I was more worried about the flooding between Wilderness and Kynsa. Sir Lowry's pass wasn't too bad, just very wet and super foggy.

Okay, that's good! You must have then made it through before the rock falls - when we went over on the way out of town it was just raining quite a bit, so visibility was not too great, but not misty at that time. For the majority of the drive it was very wet, so was loads of fun seeing the long plume of spray trailing behind the car!

That is actually very good going economy-wise for a big V8 M car!!!
