Road trip ... Durban - Cape Town

Hi guys

Planning to do a road trip from Durban to Cape Town via the Eastern Cape whilst taking some breaks to enjoy the trip along the way.
The journey will be broken up into :

Durban - East London
East London - Knysna
Knysna - Cape town

Has anyone here done this before ?
Any suggestions?

I'm just abit concerned about the roads between Durban and East London.

Be careful & vigilant in the Eastern Cape. They have the worst drivers in SA

Be very careful going through mthatha, roads are very bad, cows walking on the road so try to not go past here at night. last two trips i did to Durban from cape town was quite foggy passing mthatha at night.

from knysna back, there are quite a few fixed cameras and they tend to trap often. after that from just after caledon is average speed monitoring up to somerset west, then starts again as you start to enter cape town cbd. also try and avoid the R300 at night if you are branching off the N2 to go towards the N1.

Most dangerous stretch will be from kokstad to butterworth, make sure you do that during the day, and ideally on a weekday, Avoid Umtata on a friday afternoon, and especially after payday, it'll take you 2-3 hours to go through the town alone. From East London to CPT you can drive the N2 easily in a day, Knysna is a nice stopover, lots of restaurants and when it's offseason you'll find places to eat easily.

Thanks for the feedback guys...
Will be starting my trip on a Saturday morning, spend the evening in east London.
Knysna is a must stop for me ... family :smilebounce:
