The latest 3-Series ticks a lot of entry-level luxury sedan boxes. It's a joy to drive and brings with it an elegant, well-thought-out interior as well as the sort of confidence that gives it family-car comfort with more than a dash of spirit. Impressively, too, value is high on the agenda, especially with this 328i that adds some punch to the performance ledger.

Immensely flexible four-cylinder engine
Smart auto transmission
Fluid and confidence-inspiring dynamics
Elegant interior
Decent list of gear

Cons

Engine doesn't sound great
Ride can be fidgety at low speeds
No spare tyre
Sound system could be better

I think the new 3 Series is an awesome car and will become the benchmark. The 4 cylinder engine note may be very dull and boring compared to the old NA six, but I reckon it still sounds better than many of it's rivals... :thumbs:

I've heard some people complain that the sound system in a standard 3 series isn't that great. So anyone who's looking to buy a new F30, check the sound to see if you're happy.

When the E90 first came out, I could not stand it and in fact found it to be very ugly. Years later it grew on me, but still preferred the E46. Now, looking at the E46 it is starting to look a bit dated, not to say that is not a looker anymore - always will be. But the E90 has got it's angles where it looks nice, and the new F30 is indeed a fresh look. My love for BMW's started with the E36 actually, never really noticed the iconic E30 to be honest - epic car, but before my real interest in BMW. Now of course, I can appreciate it for what it is - point is, these are all proper drivers cars!!! raise:

I have driven the new 328i, and although I didn’t want to like it, I can’t argue that it is a nice car. But just that – a nice car – not a nice BMW.
Turbo lag is almost nothing with the optimised gearbox

I'm sorry, but there should be enough E36 and E46 to go around till I kick the bucket. In my humble opinion, if I can't have a straight 6 BMW, I might as well be walking.

Used to be where when bought a 328 you got a whole different engine to a 320. Now though they both have the same engine so what's the point paying the extra money for it. Gone are the bombproof engines with a great sound. Now you get turbocharged valveotronic bullsh*t......

I still prefer the E36 and E46's dashboard, you get that nice 'fighter cockpit'.
And when I use the wifes E90, I always get confused where the location of the window switches are, where the E46 falls nicely in the centre :=):
