Road rage reaction

Mini Bus (taxi) pulls up in left hand land and blocks 8:30am traffic. I am about 6 cars back. 3 cars behind the Mini bus is another Mini bus. I am irritated that the first Mini bus thinks they can stop there and clearly block everyone. But I calm down and he pulls off only for the next one to pull up in the same spot and stop for even longer. Busy traffic and he is blocking everyone. I get a gap and overtake, just as he decides to pull off blocking my entrance to the onramp. My patience is no longer. I wind down my window and shout "Stupid Idiot!" and put foot and just get through the gap. Taxi driver hoots at me. I give finger and off I go onto the freeway.

Take the next offramp and I see the same taxi go straight. His front passenger sticks his head out the window and points at me, and mimics slitting his throat, and then points at me again. I do nothing and carry on driving.

Moral of the story. Keep your road rage in check no matter how bad it gets. Stuffed up my day as now I have to watch over my shoulder to see if the threat was real or just an attempt to intimidate. If I had it over, I would have just driven around him without saying anything.

Hope this helps some of you.

Unfortunately you are right. Best to keep it in boet. Had an incident the other day, if the guy had not driven off I probably would have done something stupid.

I know how u feel. Sometimes you just can't help yourself but u never know how the next person will react. It's upsetting how badly some people drive and it's thise same people that put you in the situation you are now experiencing.
But rear assured there's so many people swearing at him that he's probably forgotten about you. Glad it didn't get out of hand though

Rage should generally be kept in check. I had an incident where my car was parked in someone else's parking bay at my complex over the weekend. The owner of the bay drove in, got ticked off, threw a tantrum and kicked the panel behind the doors in. R50k damage. He either has to pay for malicious damage to property or get arrested.

Lesson: Two wrongs don't make a right.

:argh::argh::argh:

The taxi's drive me insane!!!

Corner of Uranium and William Nicol, where all that construction is happening.

None of the taxis actually obey they fellow in the middle of the intersection, trying to control traffic. They just drive across as they please, no consideration for anyone's safety, not even their own or their passengers.

Don't stress guys... I piss off taxis on a daily basis on my way to work in town. I even had one taxi driver tell me that I was driving "badly".

This is my approach to the whole taxi thing.

From Fight Club:

You had to give it to him: he had a plan. And it started to make sense, in a Tyler sort of way. No fear. No distractions. The ability to let that which does not matter truly slide.

Do exactly as they do... to them (sans any violence)

Best thing to do, is let it go, unless of course you are injured or damage to your car.

You will make a sign, or roll down and say something, and the guy is then "provoked" as far as he is concerned to retaliate, with worse driving behavior than before o whatever else.

It will be shit for your entire day, but the guy will drive off and have forgotten about it 10 seconds later, because he drives like an arse his whole life, your one, finger flip isn't going to cause him to reassess his life and his driving skills. he just continues.

Yes, there will be one day, when he will meet his Moses, lets hope.
And he will cut off another guy, who will not let it go, it may escalate, and he will lose that fight, and that loss, will be a win for every one of us.

But the more and more I think about this, the more I realize its absolutely pointless to say/do anything.

I have calmed down a lot the last few years, there is no point of getting wind up... I now just give them a stone face then a:nonono:

I did however did get out of the car last week, as we were approaching a 4 way stop, my fiancee had the right of way turning right, next thing I see is this fool on the right slowly creeping up the intersection and almost hit the rear of the car...:argh: I got out the car so quickly coz I was furious but the b!tch drove off quick:bangdesk: I swear I would have lost it....

Is better to just wait a few minutes then trying to squeeze thru and maybe cost a dent/accident on the car, is not worth it...

most of the time, its not even a few minutes, its seconds dude.
patience is a virtue, and unfortunately, the bulk of south African drivers are not virtuous in this area.

I think we need a thread where we must name and shame these idiots... Mistakes I understand we all do this some time... But blatant irresponsible selfish driving these idiots must not get away... We should mention their number plates and take a pic of the idiot in question....

Yeah I was impatient. Guilty as charged. It is just sad that we have to accept this type of behaviour. It wasn't a mistake on his part, it was a blatant disregard for other road users yet I am the one that has his life threatened. Anyway, a lesson was learned today. I live in South Africa, I should know better. Next time, music on full, happy thoughts and I will wait patiently.

Thats how it seems to work. The innocents get in trouble and the guilty get away. Thought you knew that by now :=):
