Aahh, I see what you mean. The car could have come onto the freeway over the yellow lines (The lines over which the police van is standing, although maybe not quite at that point), M5 driver see's the car maybe 100m away, slams on brakes and looses control.

Doubt that..... never seen that in Germany
People may be slow on the onramp but crossing the lines is something that doesn't usually happen there!

I guess the M5 driver saw the car on the onramp and got a fright... pulled left and then the unavoidable series of mishabs happened

This is some serious stuff just glad no one died including the dog.

Do you have the link to the original article?

Damn, its suprising that they made it out alive, judging by the damage. Yes the autobahn has no speed limits, but doing 300km/h leaves no room for "bad luck"

Now on the lighter side, I rather pay more and drive a BMW and know me and my family is in a safer place than those small cheap boxes you can buy these days.

glad all are alive . one problem if autobahn is so safe why have on ramps when guys can be doing 300 km/h while you join the traffic ?

One fact to remember, 300kph is basically 83.333m/s!! Average human response time is said to be 2 seconds!!! Oh sh... - 2 seconds later and 166 metres!!

IPDE! Identify, predict, decide, execute! Am I correct Cois!

Advanced Driver Training tells me to look out for possible dangers, all the time.

Sad situation indeed and I feel sorry for those involved but examine the facts!

An M5 doing 300 approaching an on ramp?

Now, I'm no race driver, but even on a track, approaching the outlane of the pits, stay away from possible danger of cars entering the track.

Our system of observation, predicting danger may be one of the best to avoid such disastrous situations!

Speed may not kill, but speeding without a thought for the possibilities on public roads definitely can kill!

Just my opinion. Hope the driver and occupants recover well.

Great work on the M5 for saving their lives.

On that particular stretch of the A81 there is not too much traffic.
One could raise the question WHY didn't the M5 driver use the fastlane when doing 300km/h?

If he was doing 300km/h, his sons with the two other beamers must have also done around that speed!

Did they have a race and were using the whole Autobahn dicing eachother?

Too many questions......
(I don't buy the story of the onramp car; sounds more like an excuse)

i agree something fishy here... i think they were playing games and a non player came in unaware of what was going on...

Furthermore....
If there was really an onramp culprit it would have been a piece of cake for one of the two sons to "catch" the fooker with his M6 (after they made sure their dad and the dog are alive).
In this case the news would have certainly prayed on that story.....

Me in this situation would have sent my brother after that guy to make sure "we get'm" :confident:
