Wait, I have an idea.
Just stay in the car and it will drop 12mm in front and 10mm in the back!

Those measurements are with me in the car :tease:

Says the man who causes a completely stock factory setup to touch (fender and tyre) when pulling into a driveway :roflol:

If it really bothers you that much H&R have a 35mm drop and Eibach have a 30mm

I can discuss how well the e60 550 FSD take lowering with Koni and get back to you if you want to go that way... i would leave it for a bit though and see if it improves :)

So the consolation for now is the drive quality :joy:

Went out to the Spar earlier and man is the car different. Even the Mrs. said wow!

I am going to wait it out for a bit Sean. Will see how it goes. Just remembered that I have the set of old shocks still in the boot, so that will add another 1mm to the gap when I take it out. :shakehead:

This might be an opportunity to justify those spacers :mmm:

spacers, lowering springs or bigger wheels... easy to fix arch gap :)

a silky smooth ride with performance not so easy

this doesnt really make sense. with a bit/lot of effort, you can compress the shocks with your hands. on the corner of a 5er, there is probably close to 500kg/cm2 (completely made up number, based on estimated weight/4 and the shock tube est at 1cm2) on the suspension.
I would also guess that neither the mounting points, or the shocks themselves are designed to support much weight??

surely the springs or perches were reinstalled incorrectly??

definitely installed correctly they were done at KoniSA...

there are numerous cases of people complaining about this happening after fitting new shocks (mostly bilstein) it does not make sense to me...

I think in this case they are assisting, but not holding the all the weight. If you try lift a car from its fender, doesn't take much effort to lift it a little.

The reason for the Bilstein shock being more common to this issue is because of the pressure value. They run in the vicinity of 20 bars compared to 7 bars of the FSD. This is also why a Bilstein shock is so damn tight in terms of drive comfort. Awesome shock but certainly not intended for any form of comfort.

Yeah, like Moranor said, they must be fitted correctly. No fly by night place. Steve from Koni won't employ a bunch of suspects so to speak.

spacers might be the best for you because i know you dont really want to lower... larger wheels will mean more money for tires...

post some pics so we can see what we dealing with

So I think I know why it went higher :mmm:

Just pulled out the olds shocks to check the state. As mentioned before, one was leaking so it was a given that it was dead. So dead that it could be depressed with one finger pressure. Didn't return at all in an attempt to get to the original ride height. Almost the same for the other front shock too. What a surprise. Also pushed down with one finger it it returned to about 7cm back but really slowly and stopped way at the bottom which doesnt help either. So this shock was kapoet too.

The rears seems much better and couldn't be depressed all that easily and they at least returned to the original position after not waiting as long Not perfect in any way though.

So yes, I believe that the old was so poor that the car height reduced because of this, giving me the look I miss.

The height seems to have come down very slightly when I checked today so I assume over a long period of time, the height will come down as the shock tires out. Only thing is that Koni lasts way way longer than OEM so I won't be posting an update on this thread anytime soon :)

0 change in height when i fitted Koni sport (should be harder at rest than the FSD) to my car and it still had the originals on at 180000km whatever is causing it I hope it loosens up and you regain the height you were happy with :)

I certainly hope so. :)

Well, just when I thought that it couldn't be rubbed in any worse. Wife just got back from shopping and it's like "why is your car looking so high?"

:bangdesk:

She sees the disappointment and asks "does it drive better now?" :mmm:

"Yeah babes, it certainly does" :)

eish, hang in there bud
