Retrofit Nav function, BMW Connect and DVD function

Hi OBDWorx,

I was referred to Gert after asking the question of whether I can retrofit or install additional functionality to my Professional Radio in my 118i LCI? I didn't spec the Business Nav when I purchased the car but think that it might be pretty useful now with BMW Connect and new apps coming in 2016.

Is this possible and what needs to be done?

Hey buddy,

Is it an F21? I then assume it's still under MP? If so, there's a real risk that doing the retrofit will void your MP.

Other thing is, retrofits of this nature can easily cost R25k once you factor in all the ancillaries that are required to make them work. I import all the Nav gear, as the condition of units available locally left a lot to be desired. So another issue against us at the moment is the poor exchange rate.

Hi! Thanks for the info. It's a F20 and it's only a few weeks old so still under MP. I guess it is then a rather big job and not just a matter of installing additional software like I'd hoped.

Anyway, can't take the chance if it'll mess with the MP. not worth it.

Ah sorry, I see that you didn't need Pro Nav, only Business Nav. So the screen you have can remain. The head unit will still have to be swopped though, and a vin blocker installed, although this is much cheaper than the Pro Nav option I indicated above.

But the MP point still remains. I don't want to be that guy that caused your plan to be cancelled...
