Now that's what i call dedication and nice job indeed!
Just amazes me how these rare classics get to be in such a messed up state in the first place :dunnoanymore:

Just read thru this whole thread now, awesome work! I am also restoring an M5, its really expensive and takes a lot of time...

I admire how you are still at it, everytime I lose interest, I take her for a spin and come back full of inspiration

Still around, have taken a large amount of pictures, need to upload. Also figure out a way how to bring all the old pictures back.

Car is ready for a final fluid change, oil and brakes, then its back on the road. Wanted to spend more time on this during lock down, bit did not manage.

During lock down, I tried to find some parts, ordered them new and then found them. Decided there and then to create a spares catalog of bits and pieces I have. This is to avoid buying something that I have.......work in progress, list almost done, workshop painted out, so ready to get the car running again.

Can't wait. :thumb:

Any idea what's the best place to get E34 springs for decent price (front and rear)?

Have a set of e34 M5 back springs original......

Yip finally there is an update......this has been taking a really really long time, with possibly not the focus that the car deserves. All kinda things came in between. The car has been transported to Evolution 2 Motorsport (https://www.evolution2.co.za/) All the fluids are being changed, getting new oil, and brake fluid. Car has started and the fuel lines are being replaced. After almost 30 years they have become totally brittle, and now pose a rsik. Wow, just spent my monday morning going through this thread again. Awesome, awesome work. Many hours, many coins spent on this. Amazing work Adi! I would assume the car is driving well now?

It drove, about 15m, out of the workshop, turned and drove onto the lift. Before going for a longer spin, need the fuel lines replaced. Also the tappet cover is coming off, and is being replaced as the previous owner felt the need to use a really ghastly grey Hammerite finish on the cover.

That is biblical dedication and determination to work on a project for 12 years and not get to enjoy a spirited drive for motivation. I know I was ragging my M5 around the block with no exhaust or front bodywork when I first got it running :ROFLMAO:

You may want to consider checking the valve clearances while the valve cover is off - this should be done every 100K IIRC but is rarely checked

Ok, the car is home. What a drive last night. Did I enjoy it, oh yes! Driving that M5 is oodles of fun, and for the size of the car its amazingly quick and agile around corner. This weekend will be the first time the car will be going out. We are doing a matric dance! And yes, will take a few pictures of the M5 on the road again.
