Replacement keys....

My spare key looks a little worse for wear, the rubber buttons are worn and the casing looks scruffy, but the electronics work 100%.

Instead of buying a whole new key, I was thinking of buying one of those blank casings off ebay, having the blank cut by a locksmith and putting my electronics into the new blank. Would this work and would I need to get it recoded?

It would work. You can even get one form dealextreme.com, might be cheaper. No need for recoding, as you transfer the electronics.
