Removing tyre marks from paint work – Avoided Ci destruction!!!

Hi lads, as if the ass holes with their fog lights aren’t bad enough… I now also managed to clip a de-laminated truck tyre laying in the middle of the road…. A full sized tyre coiled in the middle of the left hand lane !! MAD !!

I was able to swerve to avoid hitting it straight on, which would have been the end of the Ci. But unfortunately caught a bit of it on the left front bumper… the fog light is a little loose and there are black rubber marks on the bumper with hairline cracked in the paint (repainted like 3 months ago :argh:) … no major damage I can see though…

What should I use to remove these black marks without damaging the paint?

Hey Herman! are we the only 2 fanatics in VDBpark?? where were you driving? I've seen some tyre bits lying around lately, but often on my way to jhb on the R59... Sorry, don't really know how to get those marks off. I guess you'd need something solvent based, like meth's, but not sure of the effect on the paint.

Hi there, no, we are a couple from the Vaal, Flash-Gordon being one of them....

Maybe we should have a Vaal Wimpy breakfast run to Parys or something!! I have to take the M out on Sunday anyway..

What you Vaalies say??

PS' I drive the N1 North, so Klapked it in the single part of the R57 to meet up to with the N1.

Try using turpentine it works well, then give the area a good polish.

Cool, I'll give it a go... Thanks.

Meguiars Ultimate Compound should do the trip.
You will also need an application and a lot of elbow grease.
Ideally a Dual Polisher would be best.

With that said maybe a better option would be to take to a Auto Detailer.

Yip, and Luis.

You know, the M is always willing to show some tail

Strange that there are so little Fanatics in the Vaal though, there are so many Beemers on the road... maybe those people do not have internet. :fencelook:

Im pretty sure a clay bar and a good polish would do the trick. Meguiars Ultimate Compund(As mentioned by Gilbert), if you need something a little more abbrasive.

Hey Flash! I work at Sasol so in the week, I'm on the R57... south in the morning and north in the evening. Wasn't on the R59 yday... why do you ask :fencelook: ? I'll admit, my car is still pretty new to me, the novelty has not yet worn off so I may be witnessed being a hooligan from time to time  I do my best to make sure I don't bother or stress fellow road users though. Shout me if I do! Dude, the no internet thing is no joke, I was on a waiting list at Telkom!

Herman is your M the yellow e46 I see from time to time?? that car is awesome... love the colour!

Saw a black Z4 yesterday, though it was you :biglol:

Herman has an ///M Coupe, white with an awesome exhaust system :inlove:

I've been handing out cards like crazy, hoping to "make the circle bigger" but no prevail as yet :(

Was it a coupe? I haven't seen another coupe around here and I've been looking :) saw 1 for sale at a dealer in Vereeniging a while ago, but that's about it! So I know to look out for a silver 325Ci and white M coupe... what do you drive Flash?? :)

Apologies for the mild hijacking of this thread Herman... hope you win with the tyre marks! When I spot on the road around, hoping to see a sparkling silver Ci

Hope you are able to get rid of the marks! And well done for saving the car - that's a massive amount of rubber to hit! Not too long ago we were driving on the N1 and in the left lane far ahead I saw how a truck's trailer had a tyre blow-out and de-laminate immediately - luckily there was nobody close behind them at the time!
