Rattling sound cold start

Guys help my 320i F30 recently started making a rattling sound in the engine area on cold starts. The sound however goes away after 30 seconds to a minute after starting the car.

I know it’s not normal, do u think it’s a call for concern.

Actually my friends are the ones who told me that sound is new and not normal.

Sounds like this may be the timing chain...

Have it checked asap!!!

If you have the n20 motor, this is a very common and serious issue..

What year model is your F30 and what is the current mileage?

Its the 2014 model, I’m about to clock 180k. It does have the N20 motor.

If i were you take it in to diagnose as soon as possible

Agree to dealer it for an inspection.

In the meanwhile you can open the bonnet on cold start and listen to where the rattle noise is coming. You maybe able to identify the source.
