I have a few friends in the trade and cashed in a few favors. Most bits I found secondhand, but things like grills, air ducts and brackets (pretty much whatever is behind the bumpers) I had to get new. If it wasn't for the adaptive cruise control, I would've been able to use secondhand here too. Even things like the belly plate was an issue, as this is different between MSport and individual.

Soooo, time for an update. Sorry for the picture bombing...

Cream is a terrible colour to try and maintain. It also shows up wear and tear very easily. After all the effort that was put into the car, the scuffing on the leather was a serious issue for me.

For this, I got professional help; no way that I've got the means or talent to get the results I wanted. First off was a complete interior plastics and leather clean. This took them 4 hours to make sure the surfaces were as clean as possible. Failure to prep properly will prevent the dye from adhering to the leather underneath, affecting longevity.

Here's some before and after pics.

While this was busy, I figured I'd give the guy a real challenge; my old M3 steering wheel, just for shits and giggles. To say I was dumbstruck with the results would be an understatement.

I now need to figure out how I'm going to get the seatbelts clean, something I didn't notice prior to the deep clean of the leather.

Wow!! That looks so fresh again... I suppose this must have also cost a lot but worth it, it looks superb that M3 wheel looks better than factory new! :praise:

Crazy thought can you not remove the seatbelts and put them in a washing machine?

Woah, 4 hours to deep clean the leather, what were they using. I spent a couple of hours on one seat and only got like a quarter of it done and it could be a lot cleaner still.

Results are awesome. Looking ace.

I have no idea what he used. It's his own concoction and a lot of elbow grease.

Bud, for the amount of work the guy did it was a bargain.

Who did the work?

I can pass the details by PM. He generally only deals in the trade I believe. Best to speak to him tho.

WTF!!!

Damn, this means that all these poor looking cars with kak leather and ESPECIALLY thse shiny steering wheels can be brought back to life!

thank goodness!

I say best idea is if the guy only deals in trade then he should be more open with group orders perhaps?

Jirre, the leather looks amazing and that wheel...xxx
But just how does one let the leather get so dirty in the first place baffles my mind. Did he carry dogs??
