Radiator Leak

Hi Guys,

I was having to fill my car with water every few days so i took it in. They tell me now i have a leak on the radiator. I cant really hear a leak or see it so imguessing its very small.

Can i repair this? Or where i can i take it to get repaired?

A new one is going to cost me over 2 k and was quoted 1.8k for a used one.

Is there a quick fix for this?

R400 for a fix at Silverton or similar. But this is not always a long term fix, because if you have a leak caused by corrosion, the leaks may never stop coming. Rather get new, unless you are sure that the leak is a once-off damage you sustained somewhere.

On second thought, if it is the tanks that are leaking (the plastic parts on the top and bottom of the radiator fins), then you have to replace the whole unit anyways. Good luck :thumbsup:

You can use something like Loctite radiator cement . it is a small blue cardboard container with greyish powder , it does work , but I see it as buying time . You will have to replace the radiator one or other time .Silverton usually sell Behr which is bm OE .
There is a place advertising on gumtree , do not know quality though .Good luck .

Some say that you can also run that radiator leak stuff (sold in a purple bottle in midas), but that is a crock of sock...

Don't leave it too late. I spoke to the guy that bought my polo a year ago and he developed a leak on the water intake bracket on the engine. He saw it, but didn't do anything and he got himself a seized engine. Serves him right I thought, but it brought a tear to my eye to see my baby manhandled like that.
