Why an E46 330i ? Why not an E90 330i ? Doesn't the E90 330i have more power and similar weight ?

Would a Golf GTI and S2000 be a decent match up or would the S2000 leave it in the dust as well ? Another question would be, if I had a 320d (stock), would I be able to keep up with an S2000...

 the S2000 is a proper car with a proper chassis and suspension setup they still handle well with 500kw... you cannot compare two

the golf is a fat Fwd its like an ugly girl with big tits... just a waste...

Wow, didn't know you guys hated the GTI. But then if you guys hate the GTI then I must also hate the GTI otherwise something is wrong with me ? :) Isn't GTI like a sub 7 sec car ? Okay then, then its kak slow for a top VW....

Uhmm, if the e90 330i is better that the e46 330i then I was right to include to set the boundaries as I did.

the list mathematically would be:
[e46(318i, 320i, 323i, 325i, 328i, 330i), e90(320i, 323i, 325i)] < S2000

Well isn't the GTI in the '0-100 in 7 seconds or thereabouts' bracket ? :)

Sankekur, I understand what you meant, just wondered why you mentioned the E46 330i. Perhaps you thought it was quicker (maybe it is quicker for all I know).

Just read one review of the 2010 GTI, and apparently it's 6.9 seconds 0-100.

So basically, an E46 or E90 330i is quicker than a GTI. Interesting. Never thought that would be the case -- a luxary sedan beating a fast hot hatch...then again, apparently it can run with the S2000 so....very impressive.

I assume that the e46 330i and e90 325i are pretty similar in terms of performance, and the e90 330i and up are better, a guess of course, have never tested this.

Hi Olorin
Must say I don't agree that E90 330i is quicker than GTI (Golf 6), maybe at the coast yes but not at altitude.
Don't feel bad about the S2000 beating you, you can't compare the 320i to a S2000 from performance point of view. Some you win some you lose:thumbsup:

Why don't you agree ? The 330i 0-100 is 6.0 seconds (some publications have tested 5.9 seconds) The GTI is almost a full second slower.

the G6GTI is kwik..no doubts about it! i gave a g5gti a hiding with my 330Ci..yes a g5 is slower than a g6..but not by ALOT! where a E90 330i gave the 330Ci a hiding (my dads E90 330i at the time)

No offense Olorin, but a would not taken on a S2000 with a 320i, the S2000 is a pretty quick car over short distances, its lighter (even with the extra passenger) than an E90 and more powerful than a 320i.

I would think twice about taking it on with my car, but then again the racing bug would have bit and i would have done it anyway. :excited:

Hmmm.... somehow I find some of the TLGP tales hard to believe, 325i's and 320i's against a honda s2000.
There is almost no contest.:nono:
The S2000 gives even the e46 330i a fair amount of crap.

There is no way an e90 or e46 320i will touch a S2000

There is no way an e90 or e46 320i will touch a S2000

I would have to agree on that statement.

I've taken on a white one in my baby and even when launching from a robot i pull him nicely in first , a little more in second, third we hold each other and 4th its all game over. i did everything right and he pulled passed me anyway. S2000 has a beast of a little engine!

Let me ask you guys a question. Not related to the Honda S2000. The Audi A4 2.0l (non-turbo) 2004 model. Is my E90 2005 320i faster than this ? My colleague at work got this car a few months back and said he wanted to 'dice with me'. So I'm wondering what kind of performance I could expect.

:pimp:
Thats exactly what I said on page 1 of this thread...
"
friend of mine owned a S2000,
He never got away from me, infact, from pull away i had him,
only from 3rd would he manage to catch up, cause I would be in 4th already.
man those v-tecs can rev... "

and... "
Look ,they light, they fast, but they need to get the revs up before there is power,
so DSC off, 3,500-4,500rpm, drop clutch, and you off while he still spinning...
then quickly to 2nd gear, into 3rd... then when you get to 4th, doing about 145-150km/h,
he is still in 3rd, reving the crap out of that vtec, and then he catches up... easy "

Its a close match. He has 95KW, and much lower traction. So you should beat him, but not by much...
