I have just now received a quote amounting to R 92,000.00 to extend my motorplan with 25,000 km for my E60 M5. This is ridiculous but what can I do (murphy’s law)

Goes wrong with what, the car or the high yield account? With my luck probably with both.

ah, so BMW motorplan boys are hedging against you then

3 gearbox's is a bit over the top, glad my car doesnt have a disposable one :)

But why must I now be penalized if BMW decided to install a new technology SMG gearboxes in a 500hp car, and not a manual gearboxes? I am not arguing just asking. I must however say that the last gearbox have lasted at least 60,000 km, but then again I have not launched once with the "new" one - to dam scared

At 97,000km my new gearbox in my E46 M3 grossed a motorplan claim of R123k so I'd say with your gearbox track record and R92k to extend, you are sitting with a real tough decision....

I so badly want an E60 M5 but can only afford an oldish one with high mileage but now this scares the shite out of me...

In the states they got some manual e60 m5's. lucky buggers.
Basically motorplan will look at your cars history and quote accordingly, they dont give a rats ass if the problem stemmed from poor design :shakehead:

Sell the M and add the R92k to a new M.

What you are telling yourself is that you WILL be losing the R92k if you keep the car. Any way I look at it, the risk outrun the benefit. No use in knowing that poor BMW will lose R200k by putting in a new box every 10k km, you STILL LOSE(spent) R92k.

I agree, but I am waiting for the new M5. When will it be available? Some say only in October, usually the M series gets launched 10 months after the new series is launched, and I believe the new 5 series will be launched now in Jan, or am I wrong

Thanx, I will give them a try. Will keep you updated.

Got a quote R 96,000.00 for 2 years, then limited to R 10,000.00 per claim on gearbox and engine. I did not even ask them for how much km's.
