Psy's G30 540i

What a journey it has been leading up to this!
Much deliberation was had and I was jumping all over the place as to which vehicle would suit my needs and what I wanted.
I started out wanting a diesel, the 3L diesels offer a decent amount of power and good fuel economy. I knew that a 20d would not cut it, as awesome as they are when my foot was flat I was left wanting more. F30 330d, F10 530d, F10 535d, F07 530d, G30 530d, F06 640d, G11 730d, I even considered an X3 but I am not a SUV/SAV guy - as I said, all over the price.

I eventually decided to go and check out a B58, more out of curiosity than anything else and always had a soft spot for the 2 series. There have been many times where it feels as if certain things are just meant to be and happen. The M240i my friend and I went to look at and test drive to experience the B58 just so happened to have an exhaust on it, along with some other mods.
This M240i really had me 2nd guessing the diesel route, the drama from the petrol engine with the exhaust and the light burbles immediately made the experience feel closer to what I experience on my bike. Digging deeper into the B58 and the tunability of the engine certainly cemented my decision to go B58 over a diesel. I'd be able to get a lot more power out of the B58 than I would the diesel, with reasonable amounts of money being spent.

Unfortunately after a trial fit, the boot of the M240i was just a tad too small for my needs and would therefore not be practical for me.
For the money I wanted to spend, the G30 became a no brainer as it put me into a G series car with the G series interior and tech, it has the B58 as an option and the boot is big enough for my needs and its a very practical car.

The next challenge was finding one, fortunately this actually went a bit smoother than initially anticipated. Since they are soo scarce, I was thinking I'd have to wait months to find "the one".
I did need to sacrifice a bit and go for a higher mileage one (otherwise I would likely need to be waiting months, or more) but in terms of optional extras it ticked many of the boxes for me. Full service history with BMW (I am actually not sure if this is such a good thing, considering the long service intervals now), due to the higher mileage the price was lower than I thought I'd spend which helps build my slush fund for maintenance.
A big shoutout to Ash from Xcede Performance in Cape Town as well as HK Performance as I was unable to do the initial inspection and test drive of the vehicle and was not keen on jumping on the plane to see a potential lemon.

Excuse the lack of pictures, more will be added as time goes on and she needs a good wash but with the clouds looking as threatening as they have the past couple of days the wash has been put on hold for now.

Without further ado, my Bluestone Metallic 540i.

Some of the optional extras which she has includes:
  • Comfort Access
  • Parking Assistant Plus
  • Driving Assistant Plus
  • Heads Up Display
  • Harmon Kardon
  • 4-zone Climate Control
  • Ambient Air Package
  • Ceramic Embellisher
  • Adaptive Headlights with Auto High Beam assist (Not to be confused with the Adaptive LED / Iconic headlights)

I already have a list of things I would like to do to her, all within time though.
I have already ordered some door handle covers as the G30 unfortunately also suffers from the sticky door handles as the rubber / plastic perishes.
Next up will be some Gyeon products to give the interior a proper clean.

Congrats! These cars are really looming large on my radar these days...I think I need to create some space for a (another) 540i in my garage
