Programming the 1 series due to steering wheel lock

So the amber steering wheel jammed sign on the e87 turned red now steering cannot be unlocked and car wont start...I went and got a steering column my mech says we will also need to program the car. Is there any fanatic around Pretoria that can program the car once the steering column is replaced? Or any fanatic that knows someone except the stealers they will be my last resort....

My E90 was starting to suffer from the occasional steering lock fault, yellow error message, luckily not red - anyway, when the car went in for its service asked them to sort it out. Nothing was replaced, just updated the software and charged the car's battery. Must keep an eye on this though. Does the lock make any unusual sounds when inserting/removing the key fob?

I would take this fault issue to the dealership to have a look at. It is too close to comfort.

Have you tried lightly jiggling the steering wheel before and while inserting/removing the key fob? Apparently the steering lock motor tends to stick apart from battery or software issues, so I've read... Maybe also try disconnecting the battery and charging over night.
