I didn't even know of the power steering delete kit. That is a brilliant piece of weight saving as well. and easy as hell to make. Probably wouldn't cost more than R30.

For the rest, replace with after market and improve. At least the motor is bullet proof.

Also, int the UK and US Mini extended the warranties on PS pumps on pre-facelift gen 1 minis to 150k miles or 13years. If your car was manufactured before the end of Feb 2005 it might be worth while to contact BMW to see if that warranty applies in South Africa as well.
