i'm due for change... most probably OEM, Pads and Disc's for front set coming to R4900.00

R4900 , wheres this man ?

Discs from BMW after discount... u really have to push for 15 to 20 %.. I think the quote I have is at 15% discount, and Pads, ATE from Midas @ R650

just out of curiosity, have you contacted EBC for a quote? i had a set of their disks and yellowstuff pads on my E36 and they were much better than oem and significantly cheaper as well

When I did this exercise for the e36, the OEM ones had a weight advantage. Not sure if thats the case with the e46. I would also look into getting some pads abit better then OEM, really makes a big difference.

The after market pad might be too abrasive on the oem disk due to them having different compounds .... If you don't mind the different wear rate on your disk, this shouldn't be a bad option either

I generally get my parts from JSN, Club Motors - Randburg, Northcliff Auto, once from Auto Glen, all of them seem to give the standard 10% off... beg for 15% to 20% and they'll make a plan...

talk to powerbrake about oem disks with one of their pads... they will advise... the oem disks are pretty good for the price... pads can be improved on depending on your application...

powerbrake will give you the right advise they know their stuff

Speak to Clive at Powerbrake, he is very knowledgeable about the his products and what they are suitable for.

I have the Powerbrake GT series disks with the endless mx72 pads which are a crossover between hard road use and a full on track pad. The life of the pads are great and the bite is equally good... although the sacrifice of squealing brakes is price to pay (and the endless pads are quite pricey)
