320d becomes relevant because everytime someone speaks about power increases on 323/325 ten other people scream "sell and buy a diesel"....like BMW can't make good straight sixes.

Yes then you take a stock standard F30 320d and that 323i wont even come close. Hell not even an e90 325i. This is from experience I know this

Have you driven a diesel?

Your question completely misses the point :nono: ...but to answer you, yes I have, from different makes too. Best one was a C320 CDI, superb vehicle.

Someone earlier commented that the 323i is not a performance car...what a shocker that BMW's smallest six not a firebrand...

I don't care that 320Ds (mapped or otherwise) will leave me for dead at the lights, I enjoy NA delivery, rev range, and that sound. The diesel is "logically" a better car (as one pointed out earlier), it's just not the one I'd choose, and I didn't choose it, seeing as the options were either a plain-jane 320d on 16s or a 323 LCI M Sport on 18s...so exhaust and intake then :) :)

Not a fan of diesels.

I rather stick to my M54B30 any day and upgrade to a 335i in the future.

In line 6 sound is music to my ears.

From 323i to 320d to 335i

Yes then again 330d fuel consumption compared to power output is way more efficient than the 335i. Yes there is no mistake the soundtrack a 6 or 8 cylinder makes is awesome. But coming from an I6 TO THE INSTANT TORQUE And response an diesel has on tap is just as awesome with the added bonus of fuel consumption. But then again if you can afford a 335i the fuel is not a problem :=):

That said. I respect each man or lady's choice of car. Its what makes you happy that counts.

I can just warn you that you will not have an happy face when a 4 cylinder 320d pulls up next to you at the robot and you keep seeing that 320d tractor in front of you no mater how high you rev it or how flat your foot is to the ground.

They gave me an e90 325i manual for 2 days when they had to fix something on my car. I can tell you this. After a day I really missed my tractor. And when I drove off again in my tractor after 2 days I was reminded of that instant torque I missed. Oh and that fuel economy looking down at my consumption.

But as I said each one has his own taste for some like the sound of I6 other the torque of a diesel and other people the look of a car.

135/335i is in a class of its own and I would not mind having one.

Lets put an end to this.

The e90 320i, 323i and 320d were not released as performance cars by the factory PERIOD. If you go for either of these cars, they should be driven for what they were designed for.

At the end of the day, its your money and choice as to what car you will be going for.
