Power Steering Tension

Comparing my 540i with my 525i, I noticed the power steering tension on the 525 is stronger than the 540. It take more effort to turn the 525 from end to en than the 540. Is this by design or can it be adjusted to whatever level you want?

Don't quote me on this, but I think it's down to the pump. Bigger engine means they can use bigger a pump which will give you light steering.

Someone far more knowledgeable than me can confirm.

Two different steering systems. Your 525i will have a rack, while the 540i has a box, no doubt with servotronic as well.
