Hi all,

Im too lazy to search, so please help.

Car: 2004 e46 325i SMG.

Problem: Headlights starting to look grimey.

I want to "polish" the headlights on my e46 to bring them back to a nice shiny finish.

can someone please advise on a good process to get this done, or point me to a link that shows how to do this properly.

Thank you.

You can go the route of paying a professional to do it. My e39 headlights had very slight blemishes, so not worth replacing. Managed to find a guy here in CT who came to my office, spent about an hour polishing, and now they look like new. Cost was under R500, and was well worth it if you fussy. This job has to be done right, the polishing must be "even" across the lens or you get light distortion. Plastic lenses can be repaired, but not glass ones. If you in CT, and want to go this route, let me know, and I'll give you the guys name and number.

A good restore involves sandpapering and machine polishing. the plastic BMW uses is like super hard NASA secret stuff or something I had to really polish mine for ages to restore them.

But it looks so good afterwards it's worth the time.

I would say sandpaper of varying grits, and then brasso and elbow grease! I expect it's going to be a "with lots of patience" DIY job. :)

Well, it is very soft conpared to paint, but it is extremely good compared to other plastics. Have you seen how the audi plastic covers oxidizes?
