Plastidip....

a friend of mine just asked me if I had ever heard of plastidip. Seems like it's a big thing on all the forums. On the VW forum the guys are going crazy with this stuff. Spraying their badges, spraying their wheels, spraying their bonnets... Crazy. :mmm:

@ Philip ? Why not use a mixture between white and black until you get the grey you want for your interior? I would if i were you , give it a go.
I mixed before and it works like a bloody charm.

sorry for the stupid question but how do I post pics like this in here?
Ill upload some plastidip pics.

I actually saw on their site that you can buy different colours to mix custom colours, but then I gather would would need a proper spray gun and compressor etc. If my car's interior was black this would be so easy in terms of just using a can of standard black.

Yep, photobucket...

take a look at this philip. I actually did this with my eurotray. It takes a hammering with keys, ipod connection etc, that I decided not to plastidip that part. it still looks 100x better now

Hmm, site seems to be down - will take a look tomorrow, should hopefully be online then. I think stuff is going to be so handy - thinking of experimenting with the clear to protect various exposed and easily damaged areas. Interior is such a weak spot for our cars, E90 is quite bad especially! :nonono:

Edit: Site is now working - I gather you are talking about just removing the old soft touch and revealing the plastic finish underneath? Sadly with the E90 they went the cheap way - the base plastic is a basic white colour rather than the same as the grey soft touch finish, so looks quite yucky!!

Lol, this is what I have been saying. Only down side is it is now plastic which feels slightly cheaper but won't peel like the rubber ****.
So some silicone spray makes it shine and once you wipe it off and let it dry properly it'll be perfect no matter the color of your interior.

I Tried that trick with my E46 black interior, did a small piece first(clip in tray) & it came out perfect.

So decided to do the whole centre console

It came out grey under the black :(

So I just Sprayed it satin black with some rattle cans I had at home already & then cleared with duco. its been like that for about 2 years & matches nicely with the piano black trim I already got & still looks good.
