pinched charge air manifold

Hi guys I noticed something strange on my bmw n54 today I would like to get some advice .. see red marked pic ...mine is pinched closed? Must it be like that or not?

That's either a metal or hard plastic pipe, considering its so close to the turbo it should be metal, how is it pinched closed? It definitely shouldn't be like that, do you have a pic of what it looks like in reality?

Thats a serious issue you have, if thats pinched closed. Thats your pre cooler charge pipe...

Yes its the steel pipe,will it cause performance loss ? Will take a pic later

Big time. Itll be as if youre running on a single turbo. Also the built up pressure on the pinched up turbo cant be good for the seals. As turbos like to spin freely.

Not good at all.

First you got to find out what pinched it....if and I highly doubt it....If it collapsed under boost, i would be stumped...cause there would have to be a major issue to collapse a metal/ally pipe.

It could even have a slight tear in it, this will cause pressure loss.

Car was in for charge pipe because it made a load dumping sound so I thougt it was a leak in the charge pipe. Replaced with aluminium charge pipe and hks d/v... so the tuner phoned me and said its throwing an underboost error and he thinks its the intercooler leaking and would check it out... but next day he said its ok I can collect the car... I hope the tuner didn't pinch that pipe to clear the error.. what do you guy's think? I mean its asmetal pipe it wont just collapse

I wouldnt think its best practice to pinch a pipe to correct an issue. Although I wouldnt put it past any mechanic.

My theory would be if there was an underboost issue and he check the cooler and it was fine, then my only thinking or reasoning behind reducing the overall volume of your charge line would be to speed up the velocities....but it indicates that something else is wrong. Question him about the pinched pipe, cause as far as i know - you dont need a mechanic doing that to your car to get it working.
