I know some of you share the same problem, the intermittent smell of fuel in the boot of the car after putting fuel in. In some cases the absolute raw smell of fuel, almost like someone poured fuel into the trunk? So, I took a closer look and discovered the rubber seal that extends like a collar around the neck of the cap/pipe. In the photos, you'll see how it was pressed into the bodywork (Leaving a big gap for fumes etc to infiltrate into) and then after I pulled it out. I must admit that the rubber collar/seal was very well pushed into the body work. I pulled it out as you see it and cleaned it. I the sprayed it with the BMW Gummi-Phledge (Softens and restores rubber seal etc.) Then pushed it back the way it was to show how it was seated. I really hope this helps some of you.
