Panel beater needed

Guys I had a small crash today, avoided the other car but ended up on the center curb. Not too much damage. The bumper is scratched and cracked in a few places. The Radiator seems like it has moved slightly backwards. The front radiator (seems like a thin one in front of the main one) has been bent back until it touched the back one. There is a metal pipe that goes across the bottom of the radiator that is bent & squashed.

Anybody know of a place I can get it repaired in JHB that wont just charge to replace everything..

Pics of the damage:

I was in the right lane turning right, He was in the lane on my left also turning right, just as we are almost turned right he decides he wants to be in the right lane and just comes across.. So I brake, swerve to the right and decide the best place to go is up the island instead of into the oncomming traffic.. Managed to stop just before the robot pole. Unfortunately there was a 5cm high pole or something sticking up out the ground on the island that did most of the damage.. :(

On the good news for the day, My girlfriend bought her first car :) we were on the way to look at it when this whole thing happened..

I can recommend a fantastic panelbeater that does out of this world work.

http://www.robertosautobody.co.za/

Roberto is a gentleman and a real artist at what he does.

Also I had very good service last time from dent doctor in randburg provided that you keep them on their toes.

And hopefully in a few weeks, I will have another EXCELLENT contact for repairs, but thats only in a little while.

Are you fully insured ?

it doesn't look to bad

your radiator sees fine , but looks like the condensor is damaged.

the pipes are for the AConditioner - the Expansion Valve looks like it took a knock.

is the a/con still working -did any gas leak out?fan okay ?

if it's still okay - maybe strip the front out and bent it forward to check the radiator - chances are everything is till okay.

but i would suggest a pressure test on the radiator -even of there is no leaks-just to be safe

bro, thats very small damage, might be easier to just fix it yourself hey .. send the bumper off to get re-painted and fixed. replace the bent parts from scrapyard pieces. done.

@ LZ Will check out Roberto.. I am Fully Insured but my Excess is like R6500 :dropjaw:

@Nawtiboy Thanks for PM. Will check if I have time this week to strip bumper off & check condenser. Dont know if Gas leeked out or if it still works, will check 2mro.

@CP I am not as Mechanic like as you, Dont have the space to do it( live with parents in complex and already we have cars parked outside :)), Dont have the tools.. But will see what some places quote and then decide .. Would be a great project :)

With an excess like that, you had a M3 bumper, side skirts and rear bumper that were damaged during this incident. The 316 motor also had to be swapped for at least a 3.0 and the headlights had to be replaced with zenons, AE's and clears... :sneaky:

dude, shit. It could probably be fixed for like 3K if you do it yourself. if even that much.. HTF can your excess be 6500 dude ? thats insane bro :/ something is not right there.

and just to inspire you, I once swopped my driveshaft, flexdisc, exhaust&hangs. infront of the beyers naude bp garage express shop.... In the rain ... at night ... in the dark, without a torch, by myself.

so no more whiney whiney .. just fixo the problemo :slap:

You can try Johan Viljoen, he is in Centurion but not expensive at all. He is doing excellent work. Number is 072 650 8200.

R6500 excess = I am under 25 :), Had an accident with the car in 2008 (was almost written off), last time I was not the named driver of the vehicle(Maybe its less this time ), Supposedly my dad is a high claim client ( But seeing as there are 6 Cars insured & about 30 properties i don't see why he is)

@Hellas, i was thinking that, might be cheaper to get a motor sport bumper & get it sprayed instead of getting mine repaired & sprayed..

Also might be a nice time for a radiator(to a s50 radiator & Expansion tank) change & a change to electric fan, E34 M5 oil cooler

From what I can see in the pics, it looks like your main radiator is still fine, its the aircon one that was pushed back.

If you take off the pumper and send it away to get fixed, I'll help you swap out the other bits.

Take a good nice look at the main radiatior if you can see any damage,

I assume the aircon radiator has got an electric fan mounted on front, how is that one ?

Did you bend the center support chassis strut ?

At the accident scene, did you see any coolant dripping/leaking onto the ground ?

The main radiator still looks fine to me, no leaks or anything, still drove the car for 20 minutes home and temp gauge did not move off center..

Did not try the aircon, as I did not know that front one was for that.. Will check later..

Will check the center support strut today as well. If i can find what it is :)

Thanks for the offor man.. Will see what we gona do..

Just checked the car a bit today. Both fans are working, except the main fan touches the shroud when the radiator moves.. The aircon is also still working fine.. So I might be lucky and just need to get stuff secured again(replace clips etc)

Anybody know how much I could pick up a motorsport bumper up for? and how much I could sell my STD bumper for??
