Owning an E46 M3

780km on a single tank. Centurion to Margate. Also being stuck in easter peak toll traffic.

I think I averaged around 450km on a tank. Combined cycle. I used it for a daily for around 6 months.

All things considered possible a contender for the best car...

plugs (R1200+) and oil (R1200+) are farking expensive compared to a regular 3 series.

sundries are the same price

See my Inspection II from November last year. Car had 90K on the clock. The replaced rear side shafts as well....

This is just one of many bills MP have had to pay !!!

I loved my E46 M3....in motorplan you can have fun....if you have to pay for maintenance yourself, which most models now would require, you have to be a little bit more cautious....the sound of that car is still lovely, but if I were to buy one again today, I would use it as a weekend car, definately not a daily drive

I used mine as a daily for 4 years. Bought it on 30 000 km's and sold it on 210 000.

I never had one days shit with it. There are plenty BMW specialists around that can service/maintain them for a third of what BMW charges. There are extremely reliable as long as the maintenance has been done.

mate , pretty much similar feedback to everyone above ....

petrol is dependant on the foot.....
maintenance i never paid for as all my M's were within MP
boot /back space - yes both are suitable for small kids....
advice : try to find one within MP , watch out for the seals around doors and windows...., SMG is great yet would not buy another due to the clutch issues i experienced in heavy traffic ( sandton to alberton ) ...

in summary i loved every single second in that car and out of it....knowing you can wake up and drive it...is awesome on its own...in simple terms - M3 = Legend!!!!

All I'm going to say is, the E46 ///M3 was the best car I've ever owned.

Motor was bullet proof, economy well, 6 Cylinder I was happy with what I got!
The advantages outweigh the dis-advantages if any
