Without a full service history, no.

Something is bound to go wrong.

With that type of km's FSH is essential. Unless you WANT to chuck money away.

The biggest thing you will need to look for is the turbo itself, when starting the car look or listen for noises. The turbo will be loud even only on idle, that will mean that it is busy going. If not then it should be ok, but when purchasing it do and oil change immediately and have the turbo looked at, seals etc.

Friend of mine bought one and the turbo popped due to well he drove it like an arse and then the previous owner didn't look after the car. Look at the car itself and see if the car is well looked after, no nicks or damages to the car etc and then make the decision. Best would be to take a bmw fanatic that has a diesel with you to drive the car and tell you how it is, do that and you will be sorted. Also don't like the full history short thing but hey, if you like the car then why not.

Friends car sit just over 200 000km and it is still driving like it is new. Take a fanatic close to you with a diesel and go drive the car

the other thing also is that the car will tell you when things needs to be replaced on the instrument panel, or in the idrive  like us lucky ones

Have a look at that and see what it says.

As you stated it might be a nice bargaining point to lower the price

HOWEVER

make provision for replacement of typical wear and tear stuff (wheel bearings, rubbers, plugs, control arms, bushes, and most important the Turbo)

If you maintain the care correctly (oil change every 10 000km) and replace parts when due it should be happy till 400 000km

I currently own a 320d e90 with 230000km. Car has been pretty much faultless thus far. These cars are built for mileage. However take fellow fanatics advice regarding turbo. Overall a lovely car.

Goodluck

I believe that full service history at 200000km has little or no value.

We have seen how some cars that are on Motorplan with full service history can still break due to improper services or parts that were never replaced.

I think that FSH would increase confidence levels by 10-15% for me, i would still budget for major service, some repairs and thereafter preventative maintenance.

Sometimes the biggest mistake is expecting a preowned vehicle to be in excellent condition.., it never is.

There are some fanatics on here who meticulously maintain their cars, although an issue to me might not be an issue to another....
