I had to buy a car for my oldest son Tertius, now in matric, with good economy, luggage space that would be sufficient for a student and uncompromised safety features. Side impact airbag protection was my one main requirement.
I decided to spend R140k max, but the demo models for that price would not include side impact airbags, most of the available cars were Yaris's, Hyundai's and Kia's. I realised that none of them would compare with a good second generation 2007 model 120d hatch, so I searched for one and bought it.
I had replaced the Schnitzer rims with original sport-pack rims which a car dealer in town gave to Tertius as a present, brand new ones!! I had minor repair and respray work done by a BMW expert and with a spotless interior, and a good valet, the car looks brand new. It has a full and clean BMW service record. Final price paid, R139k with 140000 km's on the odo.
Ouboet was stunned when the surprise was revealed, speachless and in tears. He is a kid who really looks after his things and appreciates what he has, also a good and safe driver.
