Tell me you are not actually serious, you can close their business down for that kind of operation, no one can be that doff, also if you really suspect this then take out the cartridge and check if it is new or smell the oil :biglol:

What? Thinking about practices that BMW are well known for? Charging for work that doesn't get carried out?

Yes. I am serious. It's a thought, not a court affidavit.

If you are ablivious to this then you have very little insight into what goes on in the automotive industry

I'm also unsure if checking the cartridge or smelling the oil will help determine if the work has been done. Once oil has passed through that filter, how can you see if it's new? I have never noticed a difference in the smell of oil between services either. Either I am oblivious to this practice or I have never let the oil in my cars get that old.

Take the filter out....put a small marking or some sort....send it for the service and check if its the same filter when you get it back....

This I have seen being done with air filters and fuel filters but the oil all over the oil filter will make that difficult, no? To see it you'd have to wash it unless the marking is like a physical scratch/damage in some way.

The effort is too much :roflol:

Here's an idea the next dude going in for the booking stand and watch them change your oil and replace the filter it should take all of 45 minutes, really ......... or our "honourable members" phone SMG and ask them if this is their practice :=):

Yes, because even if they were doing it, they would definitely admit to it over the phone.

You guys really can't understand as you are actually giving good old John from "Leo Haese" a BMW dealer "gentleman" a slap in the face on "our" forum with these type of comments as he puts out specials all the time and goes the extra mile for all the Gauteng boys up there!

If you don't believe SMG in CPTN doing this oil service for R499.00 or query their integrity then that's your personal opinion if you are a moderator or so called honorary member use a bit of finesse as believe this or not people actually listen to your "wise words" and follow your advice on this forum!!!

Oh almost forgot,

"Have a nice day" ........... :=)

John and Leo Haese Pretoria are major exceptions to the norm that is poor service delivery and general bad workmanship from BMW.

Given that the microfilter I bought cost over R700 - I seriously struggle to see how at R499 they're giving each car even a cursory glance over, does this oil service include a diagnostic check at all?

So SMG are not, please don't knit pick now bud, you all made the statements now all of a sudden a change of tune!!

I merely put it out there for all to share and some guys were appreciative, I was not looking for "browny points" after all this forum is supposed to be there to assist each other.

Anyhow let's move on, I had my service done yesterday and I was satisfied enough, at age 57 and 16 Beamers behind my name I have been supporting them long enough.

They took a pic of my X5 on the lift as their is a crack in the exhaust box that I didn't know about and sent it on to me, however as I said each to their own, I don't obviously always use them as my car is out of M/Plan but took advantage of this special, that's it ......... :=):

Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth. Most of the main dealers do these oil service specials to drive more customers to their respective branches. I believe that the dealer in century city had a similar special in November/December
