Oil level display stuck in Max position on E90

My car is due for an oil service and the display for the oil level shows that the oil level has not dropped. Normally I can see that my oil level drops, but currently it shows that i have not used any oil. Is it something simple to fix or do I need to send the car in?

Maybe they used a slightly thicker oil with your previous oil service and it didn't leak through anywhere......or maybe you have a Wednesday car and it didn't use any oil....

Ok fine I agree.....No one knows your car the way you do.....but are u maybe scratching in where it's not itching?

Get a 10LT bucket. When you drain out the oil see if there is around 6lts (depending on what engine it has).

It could be a faulty oil level sensor that can be replaced when you doing the oil change.

my 325i also had this issue and this is what bmw did. not sure if there is another way

that's what I said to my buddy when he got his one 5 years ago.. having spending about 15 minutes looking in the engine bay like a tool and he comes walking out of the shop saying.. "what you doing".. I reply, wanting to check the damn oil before we hit the road.. He laughs and says, check it on the dash. Myself and the pomp jockey were confused.

I have driven for about 25 km and checked the oil level and still no change in the level. i have booked the car for the oil service next week. I explained to the service advisor what has been happening and he said that it is pissible that the sensor is faulty and a replacement would cost in the region of R 4000-00

That's crazy.

But what v.r.sexy6 also suggested will work to confirm if the sensor is at fault.

a long drive should be in the region of about 80-150kms minimum:rollsmile:

25kms is for warming the engine up

The stealers will always tell you something is faulty...they there for that and nothing else
