Hi guys

Im not a fundee when it comes to engines.
My problem may be common or not but here goes,

I have a oil leak on my E92 2007 325i coupe Auto, yesterday i popped the hood to check something, whilst the car was idling i noticed oil leaking from the plastic cover right hand side on the top half.

My car is under an aftermarket warranty, what could it possibly be?
Im planning on taking off the top cover to investigate the origin of the leak. if possible i will take out a few snaps.

Please help :thumbdo:

Are you talking about the small black plastic cover were the oil filter housing is situated.

If it is the same one, then your heat exchange gasket is worn out.

The rubber gasket is R180 from BMW, they will have at order from the factory.

Its probably the part of the tapet cover gasket where the bolts fasten in the middle...thats where mine was leaking from

Might be best to take a pic and post. One of the common failings on the N52 motors are the valve cover aluminium bolts which apparently snap and can cause oil leaks. But there are many other places as mentioned above where oil leaks can form...

 hi guys so finally I got my oil leak sorted yesterday, unfortunately I had to take it to e-car here in midrand, didn't have the right tools to strip the plastics.

So it turns out that some VVT seal had to be replaced, and at the same time they changed my tappet cover gasket. Cost me R1415 which isn't bad. Happy she is healthy again :D
