oil in my radiator

hi guys need to know what wrong with my car.

i had an incident a month back were i went off the road with the car. had to replace the radiator and all the parts that go with it bottles, pipes, etc

before my car was sent in for the repairs my radiator was 100% now after replacing the radiator there is oil filling up in it and it is mixing with the water and it turns into thick sludge :cursin:

i left the car back at the panel beater today and told them to sort it out :cursin:

my mac told me that it could be the oil cooler thats faulty but that sits on top of the engine.

any idea what else could cause this cause i dont want the panel beaters mac to just flush out the radiator and give it back to me and it does the same thing again :banghead:

Auto or manual?

Some automatics have oil coolers inside the radiator that can leak.

Oter possiblity would be the cylinder head gasket......

When reading the post title the first thing that came to my mind is head gasket. But like rick said there if its a auto there is also a oil cooler for the ATF I think in the radiator.

its a manual.... the manual also has an oil cooler but its on the engine and not on the radiator like the auto.
if its the head gasket then the car would lose power but it still has power

Not necessarily, it could be a water and oil jacket that breached, without a cylinder being affected. If there is no oil cooler in the radiator, then obviously it cannot be the cause of the problem. So it is either a head gasket, or the oil cooler, if the car has one (it should be a oil/water heat exchanger).

Only if a cylinder has been breached. Though it is unlikely that only a water and oil jacket breached, it is still possible. But if the car has an oil cooler, start with that.

i was you and u have it checked asap the oil radiator is @ 6 bar and the water is @ 2 bar if there is leak in it will blow the head gasket because of the high presure of the the oil raditor my uncals car did it and a he had to replace has head gasket

seems like its definitely the oil cooler that needs to be replaced.

gonna set me back like 5k.... F$%k :banghead: the stupid motorite warranty doesnt cover the oil cooler if its not on the radiator WTF... useless warranty

i got another top up warranty that covers part of the cost though.

i will give you guys an update once the car is repaired....

yeah i sorted out the problem but i just wanted to wait a few more days to make sure that it was 100% before i posted an update

i had to change the oil cooler and water pump.

the oil cooler was the reason why the oil was getting into the cooling system....

the seals in the water pump were damaged so i changed so i got that replaced one time

the mac tried to clean out as much oil as possible but i'm going to have to flush the radiator a few more times before it is all cleaned out

Hi all i have changed the radiator and Heat Exchange (Transmission oil cooler) and the problem was solved for about two months, last week when i wanted to check the water level i saw the oil again.

What could be tha cause. My oil separator is also gone as well. The car is on 150 000 kms on the clock.

I had the same problem twice on my E90 330d manual.
The problem was the oil cooler next to the oil filter.
Upon inspection of the cooler it was found to be heavily corroded.
The water and oil ports are very close together, and the profile gasket failed, causing the oil to push into the water.
This time i had the head inspected and pressure tested, there was no problems at all.
I also had the valve stem seals replaced while the head was off.
