Thanks so much! Have messaged Blue Shirt (not Blue Peter, sorry). Will see if we come right.

What oil should I use? I have been using Castrol EDGE 5W40, but I just heard from BMW that they only sell Castrol Magnatec 5W30?

I have sent you a whatsapp. I will come to your place on Saturday to change the oil for you.

Castrol Magnatec 5W30 is the oil that BMW has always used to service your car, but they no longer sell Castrol, having changed to Shell earlier this year.

You can still buy the Castrol from Midas or Goldwagen, but it is best to get the filter cartridge and seals/o-ring from BMW.

my wife's hyundai i20 has been overfilled like that from service 1. I called in and they said its fine, subsequent services the same and its at 95k km now still no issues.

You all's reaction on this thread make me worry again.

Hi all!

Quick update - Blue Shirt came and helped me out, what an awesome guy! :clapper: :praise: :ty:

Fortunately it appears that no damage was done to the engine and she has since run smoothly.

I have taken her in for some TLC recently, spending a pretty penny on the cooling system and rear wheel bearings, but for now all seems to be in order once more.

For those who are interested, I had the radiator, expansion tank, expansion tank cap, and main pipes in and out of the radiator replaced, as well as the thermostat housing which was cracked. I didn't have the water pump inspected though...

Thank you all who responded with suggestions and offers to help. They are all greatly appreciated!
