Yes heat testing. I remember seeing a La't Wiel episode where they showed the long road you always see in the BMW spy pics that looks like Death Valley in the US, with the "high speed testing" notices along the road

Yeah I remember seeing a documentary once about the previous 6 series vert and among other places tested it here in SA, probably to see how well the suspension holds up to pot-holes and the front end to stone chips
