Got the engine ready for removal
I typically pull them out from the bottom however given that the cradle will be replaced due to previous damage I took a grinder to it

Some random pics of the engine bay follow

Cant wait to see the end results :bravo:

Good luck Peter, will be following this.

PS. Please keep the cone filter, it adds a certain finesse to the car:roflol::roflol::roflol:

Wanted to share with you some very fine repair welds.

I must ask Praven for the welder's number so that we may invite him to share his knowledge with us

Stripped some of the ancillaries
Found a few broken bolts where they were left in the block, one on the engine mount bracket.
Quick way to destroy the bracket.

That welding! :praise:

Which corner you reckon we could find them?
I remember there used to be chaps along Main reef rd primrose side, but I think they got a legit shop somewhere :dunnoanymore:

There at the robots steeldale PnP side? Pretty sure I saw the tressels and gas bottles there recently..

Yeah not sure how someone can treat a car as special as as a 333i in this manner.

Big ups on the restore, looking forward to it!

Stripped the engine yesterday so that it can go to engineers for machining.

I will see whether they are willing to weld and machine new fins otherwise I shall have to take it to a specialist welder and then back to them.

Not too bad for the number of Kms covered.
Clocks stopped working at 150K Kms so your guess is as good as mine.

Notice the date stamp on the oil pump base. Still going strong 34 years later.

Be amazed

Made back in the day when things were designed to last.

I overlooked your post but thankfully caught it in time.

I shall be keeping the cone filter as the car will be kept in KZN where I am told there are a lot of cone filter equipped Golofs.

Loving this build!! Excellent job!!

Are you going to do some porting while the block is open?

How difficult is it to find parts for this 333 so far?
