Hi guys,
Need some advice
Need to mount Perspex number plates on f80 m3, front and rear.
Why number plate holders should I buy or what are my alternatives for the best look

I opted for the magnetic plate holders front and rear. The magnets are placed behind the bumper/boot and maintain a clean look when the plates are taken off. I haven't had any problems with the plates falling off yet and have hit speeds in excess of 260 km/h. Supposedly, these are good for speeds up to 300km/h.

This is a good option unless you visit the Cape and you risk having your vehicle impounded for not having your plates riveted to the car

Even in Jhb with the odd clever pig out of it's pen.

With the magnets on the plates, I suggest cutting screw heads off the screws and sticking them to the holes on the plate. Looks like it's fixed when you put it back on the car.

Worked well on my E90, just never got round to doing the cut screws again on the current cars but no issue so far with just magnets.

Any plugs for magnetic plates, relative to pricing and quality of work ?
Is the bumper removed with to apply the magnets ?
For the front plate what other alternatives are there, I’ve been told to try the euro backing plate

I kept the black number plate base holders on the front bumper so I stuck the magnets behind that. This made for an easy DIY as I wasn't too keen on removing the bumper on brand new cars.

Get the magnets from @FiRi@Rennzport and the thick black insulation type of tape from Wurth so it can neatly cover the magnets on the plate and even behind the bumper.

I think most guys remove bumper and stick with sika or a decent glue then line up the magnets on the plate to match.

With the rear the magnet sticks on the body so no issue.
