For all of you (like me :cursin: ) looking for a M635csi with the M88 motor this add on Gumtree it is definitely not one.

Went to look this morning and it is a fairly poorly in terms of general condition and has been resprayed in a "custom colour"... rather nasty.

If you do know of a M88 engined M635csi for sale please let me know.

Cheers

how about this one:
A Rare Find Classic Impecable Vehicle BMW 635 CSi
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately the car above is a M30 engined car.

Also in 1982 the e24 migrated from being based on e12 platform to being based on the e28 platform. This resulted in a number of aesthetics changes. By best reckoning BMW only introduced the M88 engined M635csi in late 1985 or early 1986. The cars in SA are characterized by an aggressive BMW Motorsport body kit, TRX (metric) tyres and wheels, Motorsport seats and steering wheel and Getrag 5 speed box.
They are very rare and are often reffered to as M6's (their US designation).

LMAO... Nope it has 148k on the clock, but the owner did say that the odo has been disconnected for quiet some time... But he "had not done much millaege like that".... Hmmm and if you believe that it was previously owned by a single old lady that just used it to go back and forth to the shops....
By my reconning the car has had a rather rough life and the panel fit is questionable. If I were a betting man I would say the reason for the respray was that it was in a rather big front end.... But hey I'm not so so be it:)

Agreed,
Most people tyre them, take them off, put them on a shelf for safe keeping and replace with something else from the stable:)

How much would an original M635CSI sell for?
I've never seen one for sale except in the UK for 15000 Pounds, only the 635CSI's.

I have been told there is only 1 in the country. It would sell for what someone is prepared to pay for it! Based on the rarity, only 187 ever made in RHD (AFAIK) I think it would probably go for at least R200k if in excellent condition.

I know of a couple floating around. I know of red one in JHB, often pops up in the enthusiast mags, one blue one in Durbanville and a black one in Durban. These are the ones i have seen in the flesh. None of these are for sale as far as i know.
